Besides getting an early start on my Christmas shopping, I am one of those people that loathe anything to do with Christmas until December.  In the newsagents the other day I saw the cover of Better Homes & Gardens Magazine and felt a little decorating pang.

I always buy these magazines, thinking ohhhh I can make that.  I came across the very cute colour Christmas wreath and thought yeah that would be cool, read the instructions, found out I need to cut out at least 40 odd butterflies and my interest was lost at that point.  I love handmade items, just not those made by me 🙂

So this year why not give a gift that is truly unique and choose a handmade one.  If you are clever unlike me, why not something you have made, or how about something by someone else who is clever.

Here are few of my favourite picks to pop under the tree this year at Christmas just to get your started.

I had to pick my son up tonight from “the bull ring”. It is harvest time here and so he went for a run in the truck with his dad.  So “the bull ring” is my inspiration for tonight.

I am a country girl at heart, had a thing for cowboys (and yes for a short time even dated one who did the whole rodeo thing) and always wanted chickens and a vegie garden.   I have my chickens and my moderately successful vegie garden, which is probably more food for chickens than my family.  Thankfully I don’t have the cowboy anymore.

So here are a few things “a little bit country”

The very cute retro rodeo bucket hat from Vintage Kid, where you will find a selection of very cute “cowboy” things including, bibs, aprons and bloomers.

It doesn’t come much more rodeo than this checked cowboy shirtwith 1950’s patch by Samibop

How cute are these dolls by Red Wagon?  Now I could spend all day going on about The Red Wagon.  I absolutely adore their vintage feel items, how am I ever going to pick only a few to show you?

Very retro birthday invitations for the budding cowboy, also from The Red Wagon.

A sweet summer bloomer set for little boys by Ollie Rose.

At Crab Apple Bedding you can find this cute little cot set featuring the “lil cowpokes” fabric.

I have featured this dress before in one of my daily finds, but just had to again as it is just so darn cute.  It is the cowgirl dress by Little Brown Mouse.

Also from Little Brown Mouse is these sweet vintage cowboy overalls.

I think you will agree, that Red Wagon makes the cutest vintage inspired items.  I spotted these little calico library bags, and wish I had one when I went to school.

I love this vintage inspired Dick & Jane Fabric, it reminds me of my school days learning to read.  This cute little bib is by Tickety-Boo Kids

This is a cute vintage a-line dress from Etsy seller Black Eyed Susie.  The fabric is an original vintage/retro cotton twill from a thrifted curtain.

As well as Dick & Jane, Holly Hobbie was a childhood favourite.  If only I had still had my quilt made from fabric similar to this.  This little skirt is from Etsy seller Sweet Little Birdie.

I have lots more vintage goodies to share, but as it is getting late and the pictures and words are starting to blur.

Here is a funky little guy I discovered on Etsy.  By seller delacy he is a cool doll for Christmas.

Another talented Etsy softie maker is neverenoughhours and her fish and animals are very funky.  Even better, she makes Australian animals, perfect if you are looking for an overseas present.

You can even find things just for boys such as this cute little indian by Red Wagon.

Another cute doll with a difference are these Babushka Dolls by Ollie Rose.
