At last Handmade Kids is on its own domain, this is why I have been so slack in keeping it up to date lately 🙂

If you could change your links and go to this page when making comments etc etc, it would be greatly appreciated, as I cannot figure out how to transfer them across just yet, and am sure with my lack of knowledge it will take me a little bit to work it out!

A big big big thank you to Lucie from Multimedia Art for answering my 20 million a day questions and helping me to get it up and running, I think without her I can safely say I would have killed my computer!

Some blog award love!

I am extremely flattered that Louise from Buttons by Lou Lou has chosen Handmade Kids for her blog award -aaaaawhhh!  If you look off to the side, you will see Louise’s store as our Store of the Momment.

Proximidade is described as follows:’This blog invests and believes in PROXIMITY – nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes for self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!’This blog award should be sent to your favorite eight bloggers and they, in turn should forward to eight of their favorites. You should include the text for Proximidade (above) in your announcement blog. And so I award the following eight blog pages for their Proximidade attributes:

Gigglberry Creations, is home of the great decorating gadget of fabric flag banners.  I love these banners as it is an inexpensive way to make a great impact in a room and the choices are endless, as you will discover when you visit Amy’s store.
You can also read about all things Giggleberry on the BLOG, so go say hi!  Pssst she also mentions a give away for some gorgeous gorgeous fabric on another blog you might just want to see!
Recently I caught up with Amy of Giggleberry Creations and here is what she had to say:
What inspired you to start your business?
When I was at the final two weeks of my pregnancy I had started maternity leave and wanted something to keep me busy as I’m not good at sitting still… so I started to think of fun ways to decorate my daughters room without having the time to do anything major. My mum had made a cot quilt ready for when bub arrived so I asked for all the left over fabric and began sewing… before I knew it I had made Giggleberry’s first ever set of flags!!
I hung them straight away and loved how they looked so made some for all my nieces and nephews. I then had friends and extended family asking for sets so after I came home with my new baby girl, who slept so well from three weeks old that I had lots of free time in the day, I did some market researching and found Etsy. I love having the flexibility this business gives me to work and play!!
What was your first sale?
The very first day I listed on Etsy (I started with 3 sets only) I had a custom order placed!! I was still so new to the site I had to ask the customer how to set up a custom listing LOL!!! Lucky for me the buyer was amazingly helpful and friendly and had been looking for flags just like mine for her market stall, so by the end of that week I had finished her order and had it off in the mail!
What do you hope to achieve in 2009?
Hmmmmmm….. this year has many things planned for my family and I starting with a bubby due in late Feburary!!
Business wise I have just started my second wholesale contract with an online children’s boutique and can’t wait to see how it goes. I have also just introduced a new line of fun and bright cushon covers to the Giggleberry range for the new year so I see my self and my sewing machine spending allot of time together….
What was the last handmade item you brought?
I strongly stood by my Buy Handmade Pledge for my Christmas shopping and bought so many wonderful things for my daughters and family but the most recent item was a decal that I have stuck on my sewing machine cover… it’s of a cartoon girl wearing glasses with the words ‘Crafty Geek’ underneath her…. it gives e a giggle when I set up or pack away my sewing machine for the day!
What item couldn’t you live without?
oohhhhhh good question! I had to think about this one…. but the item that just kept popping back into my mind was my boomerang pillow – you know the one that is shaped like an ‘L’. I LOVE my boomerang pillow and just can’t seem to sleep the same without it! and If I don’t get a good nights sleep I struggle through my day.

Over the past week or so I have gotten back into baking and as such each day I tend to go up to school with flour on the back of my jeans and all manner of bits and blobs stuck to my shirt (yes I am usually running late so tend to forget to check my appearance before leaving the house).

I think it is about time I got myself an apron, so I can avoid those floury hand prints on my backside.

I tried googling, but so far am yet to unearth something I like or many aprons at all.  I have found plenty of cute ones for kids, which of course I will do a feature on.

So if anyone knows of anyone, or make them, please spam me and save me from further public embarrassment when I leave the house.

This gorgeous canvas is from Lolly Dandy.  They have fabulous, fun and fresh range of canvases available, so don’t forget to check them out.

You can find this gorgeous green and pink number by Fairy Fluff Designs at Green Faery, the perfect spot for little fairies.

How cool are these handmade dress up kits?  They are by Meemoh , the designs of three Byron Bay mums and you can find them on Milliemoomoo

Every princess needs some sparkling jewellery and I think if you visit Tennille at Heart on Your Sleeve you will find this one covered.  There is a great range of these cute necklaces.

Sapphire Secrets turned out to be another little fairy gem.  Here you can find a variety of things for your little fairies.  I think every good fairy needs a pair of these yellow tulle thongs.

Don’t forget the fairy wings.  This fairy wing singlet is available at Cupcakes Jewellery.

I have to apologise as my next items are not Australian, nor are they handmade, but I could not go without showing  them.  There are some very impressive costumes I am sure you will agree.  They are by Travis Designs in the UK.
