Home alone on a Saturday night I am listening to music, which I rarely get a chance to do without the constant “mum” interuptions.

My music of choice tonight is Kenny Wayne Shepperd, a bit of the blues, although I am not blue today, more in a rock and roll mood (though kind of hard to be too rock and roll when you are a mum, home alone in your jammies on a Saturday night ).

And so is tonights inspiration ROCK AND ROLL………………

Any good aspiring rock parent should head straight to, Rock Your Baby of course when looking for absolutely funky wear!  If anyone from my family are reading my boys NEED a pair of those jeans!

These coveralls are by Chillibub Clothing, and in that funky leopard print are bound to make your baby the coolest in the sandpit this summer.

Little boys need a rough and tough shirt for this summer and Ruffian Industries have some fantastic shirts for the up and coming rock star in your life such as this Butch Shirt.

There is nothing princess about this little romper from Mini Threads and available at Hollywood Baby

I also happen to love the Australian label Monster Baby, it is edgy, unique and bound to draw attention.  Some are not for the faint hearted, but I do love this one featuring Mr T (hint hint family).

And lastly something for those that want that rock and roll look but to still retain a bit of sweetness, is this Sugar Skulls Skirt Set from Ollie Rose.

Well it is nearly 8.30 pm here, and time for this rock and roll mum to be not quite so cool and get ready for bed!

This is the Cha-Cha Dress in Waterlily Pink from All You Need.

I have always loved reading and one of my many favourite books would be Enid Blytons “The Magic Faraway Tree”.  Even now as an adult I will still pick it up and read those magical tales that Enid was brilliant at creating.

The most popular searches that brings readers to Handmade Kids would be those seeking items on fairies and princesses.  So with that in mind, I have decided to indulge in the fantasty world of fairy tales and bring you some more handmade finds all things  magical.

Pinky the very cute clothspin doll from BeezTings

Red Rose Twinkle Dress from Saphire Secrets.  I have mentioned it before and will again, Saphire Secrets is the perfect place to go when looking for fairy items, they have everything from wands to wings.

Another perfect store for all things fairies is Fairy Frocks.  I just didn’t know where to start here, too many gorgeous sparkly things.  The ladybird costume above is just one of the many great costumes on offer.

How special are these tutu’s by Baby Hoot from Tasmania.  You can get your own by visiting Millie Molly Moo.

Made by Miffy has a brand spanking new store online.  So now you now have two places you can shop when looking for these gorgeous items, Made by Miffy  and the Etsy Store.

In store you can find a large selection of groovy boardshorts for boys in a range of sizes and fabrics including some for bigger kids as well, which is fantastic as the older kids tend to get a bit neglected.

Mix these with a cool shirt and you have one of the funkiest boys around, bound to upstage all the other kids in the playground in his cool shorts.

It is no secret I love black on kids, and black and white is always a great combination.  Black stands out from the rest and with so many great fabrics now days to choose from, you can still have the girly element whilst being funky.  And the best thing about black?  It just doesn’t show the mess.

The capri  set shown above captures that girly but funky element. It is currently available on the Etsy Store, but Louise tells me she is uploading lots of new products to her site as we speak.

Whilst having a look at Made by Miffy, don’t miss out on all the new new dresses as well, in a few different styles, they will be perfect for summer.  The dress pictured above is the Butter wouldn’t melt in your mouth dress which you can currently in the Etsy Store

As Made by Miffy’s creator Louise says “In Miffy’s world, handmade is super cool! Mass produced is out! Made by Miffy designs are fun, colourful & easy, for care & wear.   Using quality fabrics from US, Japanese and European fabric designers, every item is made with a little love and a lot of flair right here in Brisbane Australia.”
