Being that it is a public holiday in Western Australia today and the television is lacking in interesting programs tonight, it was time I went on the search again for some unique and gorgeous finds.  And here is what I found tonight.

Here are a pair of funky shorts from Pinna 4 Piper‘s Etsy Shop.  Made from funky Alexander Henry fabric they are a great retro short for boys.

If you are looking for something truly unique then I suggest you visit the Etsy store of Ogekko.  With a love of traditional, ethnic and natural fibres they have created a funky range of clothing for girls and boys.

Avonlea Designs create a gorgeous range of bibs such as this cute birdie baby bib.  As well as some lovely bibs you will even find something handy for mum.

This cute little dress is the Butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth dress by Made by Miffy.  In gorgeous green ginger blossom fabric it is a nice change from the usual pinks.

Poss Bloss also create a gorgeous range of bibs such as this beautiful laminated bib.  They also have a great range of long sleeved bibs if you are looking for extra coverage.

I came across these shirts a little while ago and was instantly attracted the simple but quirky designs.

The are created in Fremantle, Western Australia, by Annabel who makes the entire shirt from scratch.

Check out maak en herstel store on Etsy for some other designs.

In the first of many more to come, I would love to introduce you to some stores and their owners,  so you can get a better glimpse of all the fantastic Australian stores that are out there specialising in handmade items for kids.

First off the rank is the Etsy Store, Vintage Chenille which is the creation of mum of 4 Leah.

With the birth of her daughter after 3 boys, Leah discovered the craft of patchwork using vintage chenille.

I love this Bright Vintage Chenille Rag Quilt, such a great combination of colours.

Not only does Leah create some gorgeous patchwork quilts, but she has a variety of other goodies in her store made from chenille such as this cute little piggy.

And here is a great take on the traditional baby rattle.  How about a vintage chenille ice cream one?   The fabric would be sure to delight a babies senses.  In fact it looks so good it is making me hungry.

So if you are looking for an item that is a little bit different and made from a gorgeou soft fabric, I recommend you check out Vintage Chenille.

Do you make quality items for children?  How would you like to have some of your goodies featured on my blog?

As I don’t have quite so much time as I would like to scour the big wide world web looking for great finds, I am asking you to come to me.

So send me a good quality pic of a great funky item together with details and let me feature you.  I can even include a store banner and logo on the site.  The only condition, they must be made by you and relevant to kiddies!

This cute red babushka skirt is also from Skyerocket

These dolls have to be one of my favourite latest finds.  Although they are not designed to be played with by children, they would fabulous on display in a girls room.  They are by Etsy seller BeezTings.

As always tees2knees has gorgeous applique shirts, and I discovered this sweet girls one featuring Jilly.

Would you believe this is actually a paper doll?  Lady Jubilee Darling and her kitten Winterbottom is a paper doll by Blossom Bird and is ever so sweet.  It is a pity paper dolls were that gorgeous when I was a girl.

This one is more for mum, but is a lovely bag made from babushka fabric.  My Made It seller Elliot’s Pigeon’s it would be a funky accessory for any mum.

Once again I have found a gorgeous artwork from Tsk Tsk.  This print is entitled Lulu.

You may have noticed that I have become rather slack with posting of late, well this is because I am addicted to Diaper Decisions Great Cloth Hunt.  For those that have never heard of it, it is an icon hunt through various WAHM sites and you can win some fabulous prizes.  If you have not joined up, go ahead, it is addictive and great fun!

A lot of the sites are offering a discount, so it is worth joining up and checking them out!

For something different I have decided to feature some of my favourite finds from sponsors!

Snuggle Pants have a great new site and I love the nappies that Mandy makes.  This Minkee Rascal nappy looks devine.  Made from minky it not only looks great but is snuggly too.

The Super Monkey Shop has some pretty cool sock monkies in lots of different colours.  Michelle makes each one from a single pair of socks.  Definately a unique toy.

If you have never seen Imaginart’s work before you are missing out.  As well as prints and paintings you can even find some lovely cards.

If you are looking for a sling, then why not give Chickadee Baby a look.  Chickadee Baby Rings Slings are made in Australia for Australian mums and dads.  They even have a great solarveil sling suited for those in hotter climates.

Flannel Things offer items with a difference.  They are made from 100% reclaimed fabrics such as these reversible denim bibs.

These handmade guest books from Tummy Time Maternity and Kids, would back a great gift for the new mum as a keepsake for baby.  They even come gift wrapped and in a box.

Ribbonista have a huge variety of hair accessories.  But I couldn’t go past showing one of these.  They are so clever and there are lots of designs available in your favourite characters.  This one is Mulan.

Green Kids

A lot of parents now days are leaning more and more towards natural materials for their children and the range of things available is ever increasing.  Here are a few of my favourite things:

Handmade natural soaps are always so lovely to wash your babies skin in and this lovely honey and goats milk soap from The Graceful Garden is just perfect and would make a great gift for the new mum.

Felt food is a great way of encouraging imaginative play and these ones are made from 100% wool felt and stuffed with pure Australian Lambs fleece.  You can find them at Eco Toys.

We all dread teething time with our babies, but how cool is this hemp teething doll?  It is handmade in Australia and you can find one at Organic Babe & Kids.

This is one a bit different as it is not the usual crafty items I find, but I was quite excited to find Whole Kids and it is Australian and like many handmade business is run by WAHP’s.

This wool felt crown is rather sweet.  You can find it at Spiral Garden.

This is a cute set for a baby, made from Organic cotton, it is by Ollie Rose.

These booties are so adorable.  They are by Made It seller Pom Pom & Frieda.  They are made from 100% organically grown cotton and naturally dyed. The organic cotton used to handknit these booties is grown and harvested without the use of agri-chemicals. The colors are naturally occurring shades free from bleach or dyes.

I don’t think you can do a “green” post without mention MCN (Modern Cloth Nappies) somewhere along the line, but how to choose when there are so many great ones out there made by talented Australian mums?

So I have decided to leave that one for another day and do a blog dedicated to all those great nappy makers out there.
